What is PRP Mesotherapy?

Mesotherapy is a series of superficial injections just under the top layers of the skin.  PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a high concentration of your body’s platelets in a small amount of blood plasma extracted from a small blood sample.

PRP Mesotherapy is a highly effective, natural treatment that harnesses your body’s own healing power to naturally stimulate cellular growth and repair.  PRP has been used in orthopaedics and sports medicine for many years.  Today, PRP is also used in aesthetics to harness the body’s amazing natural resources to promote skin rejuvenation.

PRP is hugely regenerative to the skin because platelets contain growth factors that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, which are the building blocks of youthful skin.  PRP also helps to improve blood supply to the tissues and improves hydration.  Following PRP treatments, the quality and density of the skin improve, together with texture and tone, leading to a brighter, more hydrated and youthful complexion.

What skin conditions/issues does PRP Mesotherapy treat?

PRP is used to effectively improve multiple skin concerns, including lines and wrinkles, dark under-eye circles, skin texture and tone, acne and acne scarring, sun-damage and pigmentation.  Clinical research has also found incredible benefits with PRP treatments on hair rejuvenation, with an increase in growth and thickness.  Suitable treatment areas include face, neck, décolletage, hands and scalp.

Why 'Cellenis' PRP Centrifuge?

Dorset Aesthetics uses the Cellenis PRP centrifuge as its safety and efficacy are supported by many clinical studies and it has medical CE and FDA approval.  Cellenis delivers exceptional, high-quality PRP, resulting in the best possible treatment outcomes.

What happens during a PRP Mesotherapy treatment?

During the treatment, a small amount of blood is taken from your arm, just like in a routine blood test.  The blood is placed in a centrifuge which causes the PRP (plasma and platelets) and blood cells to separate, and numbing cream is applied to the treatment area.  The PRP is drawn off and applied via tiny, very superficial injections just under the top layers of the skin.  The platelets then communicate with and stimulate other cells to heal, restore and renew.  The treatment takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Is PRP Mesotherapy painful?

The procedure is usually well tolerated and numbing cream is applied for 30 minutes before the procedure.

What results will I see?

Results are usually noticed after 3-4 weeks as cells regenerate.  However, results are often noticed after just a few days; the skin looks radiant with an improvement in tone and hydration and breakouts lessen.

How many PRP Mesotherapy sessions are required for great results?

Noticeable improvements in texture and tone are usually evident after one session.  However, a course of three treatments, 4-6 weeks apart, is usually recommended for maximum results and longevity.  The results from a course of three treatments can last for up to 12 months.  Following a course of treatments, 1-3 top-up sessions through the  year will be recommended as natural ageing continues to take place.

What is the recovery time following PRP Mesotherapy?

  • You may experience small bumps and redness post-treatment, which usually resolve within 48-hours.

  • Mild bruising may occur.

  • Mild peeling of the top layer of the skin may occur after a few days as fresh new skin takes its place.
